Coffee and Conversation: Week 1

Two of my blogger turned real life friends, Kalyn and Lauren have started a new link up for Mondays called Coffee and Conversations. I am so excited about this link up, I love coffee and I love talking, so this is great! Kalyn and Lauren are both so sweet, you have to go check out their blogs if you haven’t already!

This week’s topic: What are you most thankful for so far this year?
There is always so much to be thankful for. No matter what you have or don’t have, there are so many people who with that they could have a quarter of what you do.
The thing I am most thankful for so is my blog and everything that I have gained from it this year. I wasn’t really sure what I was doing when I started out. I really just wanted somewhere I could collect my thoughts, vent from time to time, and a place to reflect back to things that were going on in my life. I had been reading blogs for several months before I created my own. I noticed that a lot of people started connecting with one another through blogging, and I eventually wanted that.
I know that my blog is by no means huge or popular, that is not really the point for me. This year, I have really started posting on the regular and connecting with some people. Most importantly, I am so thankful for the Alabama Blogger Blate that occurred a few weeks ago. Even though I only met those 8 wonderful ladies one time, I feel that there is a friendship and connection that is blossoming. We have another blate scheduled for next weekend. It has really been a blessing for me.
I have posted before about how I really don’t have a lot of friends in Alabama since I have moved here. It really is hard to meet other girls that you want to be friends with that are in the same stage of life as you, or that can relate to you. I am so very thankful for the blogging community. Even just reading posts from other people who are newlyweds, who are trying to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle, who have a hard time making friends, who don’t really know where they are going in their careers…it really has made me feel like I belong somewhere.
My blog has given me something to focus on. My blog has given me new friends. My blog has given me somewhere to vent. For that, I am truly thankful.
This post brought to you thanks to my cup of coffee!

I’ve really enjoyed blogging, too! Some people will treat it like a popularity contest, but like you, I don’t care about having a huge following.

(Also, the next time you see a blog with 100, 500, or a 1,000 followers, look at their posts. You’ll see that they rarely have more than 50 comments. What’s so great about having lots of followers if less than a quarter of them talk to you?)

I totally agree with you, Nadine. My blog allows me to channel energy that I am not able to release anywhere else. I can freely post my feelings and desires. Thank you for bringing this to light.
