Christmas Confessions

It is time once again to link up with Kathy and I and drop  your confessions!! I have a few holiday confessions for you…

–I have never built a gingerbread house. #deprived

–I have never been ice skating. #deprived

–I don’t really like A Christmas Story. I never watched it until last year so I have no nostalgia with it and well, as an adult for the first time…it is kind of dumb. #idontgetit

–I am like a little kid at Christmas. I get so excited about decorating the tree and watching all my favorite Christmas movies. I cant wait for people to open the presents I got them. I just love everything about this time of  year!

–The after holiday blues is a real thing. It is so sad to take down the Christmas tree and know that you have to wait a whole year to feel the magic once again. #christmasisoverblues

–I do love January 1st though. It is a clean slate. Time to make those goals that you have been thinking the last few months an action! #operationeatallthethingsnow

–I love going to the mail box and knowing that maybe a Christmas card will be in there instead of a bill! #billssuck

–When driving through neighborhoods, I like to look in to the windows to see if you can see their Christmas tree lit up. I promise I am not a doing this in a creepy way. #creeper

You mentioned going to the mailbox wishing for a Christmas card, and I thought of this comment I made to another blogger today: I have a list of family and close friends that I send cards to every year. It ain’t cheap. The stamp costs $2.55 (per stamp!) for a Christmas card to post internationally from here, and I send 40-50 cards. But, I do it. You know what? I have not received ONE Christmas card this year…and only 3 people even acknowledged/thanked me for the card I sent. I’m not gonna lie. My feelings are hurt.

Oh well. Merry-Effing-Christmas to those of us who love this time of year!

I love checking the mail this time of year! It’s the only time I actually run out there to get it!

You need to go ice skating!! Its fun and not as hard as it looks! I love A Christmas Story but I’ve been watching it every year since I was little so I’m sure thats why. Merry Christmas!

ice skating! i LOVE ice skating! though truth be told, i’ve never been outdoors ice skating. we used to do it for PE every tuesday in high school, it was so fun.
bills are so lame. christmas cards are the shit. i can’t wait for the clean slate of jan 1st. i’m eating mcdonalds right now. oops.

Those ecards are so perfect (as always). My family always has The Christmas Story on and we live less than 2 hours from Cleveland (where it takes place), but I think it’s such a dumb movie. The kids are rotten and the adults are so dysfunctional. Give me The Year Without A Santa Claus or The Family Stone or Love, Actually 🙂

Oh gosh – the after Christmas blues is SOOOO real. I hate when my living room looks so empty & BLAND

  • Reply Amy December 23, 2015 at 9:21 am

I hate after Christmas taking all of the decorations down, it’s so depressing and my house looks empty!!! I am totally in operation eat all the things now!!!

  • Reply Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis December 23, 2015 at 9:48 am

Cracking up at #operationeatallthethingsnow! So true! And I’m totally agreeing with the ecards that say I accidentally bought gifts for myself instead of the people on my list. Happens every time!! 2 more days!

I’ve never built a gingerbread house either – lets do it together haha! It has been so great to go get mail and know that it’s not bills coming but everyone’s smiling faces hehe! Merry Christmas girl! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

I’ve never been ice skating or even seen A Christmas Story, so. Also Home Alone. So yeah, I got a lot of dirty looks from people who grew up with those movies and think I’m the devil because I have no decades-long attachment to them. Also, a lot of houses in my town have big picture windows and they always put their trees right in them and I LOVE it, so if you’re a creeper I’m a creeper too, haha. Marry Christmas! xo

oh man. I spit my coffee out at “I’m trying to get into the holiday spirit but I can’t get the bottle open” also I don’t get the whole Christmas Story hype, I’ve never really liked it as much as others. I do say “YOU’LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT KID!” in response to any ridiculous request, but I’d rather watch Christmas Vacation or Elf than Ralphie in his bunny jammies…

Ahh eCards are the best!! I have never ice skated either and why am I starting to get the pre blues blues when it’s not even post Christmas yet? Ha!! I’m a peeping Tom or as I call it peeping Tami too cause that’s my BFFs name, lol!! Gotta see those trees!!!!!

  • Reply Kate @ Green Fashionista December 23, 2015 at 11:47 am

I’ve never decorated a gingerbread house either! I don’t have too much desire to do so. I’m THE WORST at crafty things, but I’m also kind of competitive, so I know it’d look like crap and I’d be pouty about it. Hahaha.

I LOVE seeing Christmas trees in the window. The way my parents’ house is, the tree is towards the back of the house (and also, their house is tucked back so you can’t drive by and see it anyway, but still). I really want a house with a big window and the living room in the front so our tree can be in the window!

Never been ice skating, never going to go. LOL

    Merry Merry!

Love, the eCard about drinking red if the white runs out! I also 100% agree with you about not really liking A Christmas Story. Chris loves it, and I pretty much make him watch it in another room. Taking down the Christmas decorations is the worst, especially because you were so excited to put them up in the first place! We probably won’t take them down until the first weekend of January because we’ll be celebrating with Chris’ family after New Years. And you need to go ice skating, right now! It’s such a fun winter activity!

  • Reply Jessi December 23, 2015 at 1:36 pm

You’re not missing much with the gingerbread houses, so don’t feel deprived. If you feel the holiday magic then you’re doing it right! Hope you have an amazing weekend ahead, and keep that tree up past January 1st. Be a rebel!!

    hahahah! those ecards are spot-on.

i dont like building those gingerbread houses either. confession: whenever kayla brings one home, i wait one day and if it’s still there, i throw it out!

  • Reply Michael December 23, 2015 at 4:31 pm

Love these! And I basically agree with all of them… except I’ve made a gingerbread house (1st time last year) and am in the process of making a gingerbread train this year. I also love A Christmas Story. I never saw it as a kid either. First time was 18 maybe? But I love it just the same. And I looooove when I can see in people’s house. Not in a stalker way but I love to see a snapshot of the way people decorate.

  • Reply ellesees.net December 23, 2015 at 7:45 pm

how can you not like the christmas story??? *clutches pearls* hehe i’m literally the only person i know who likes it! i have to watch it in secret because my family can’t stand it. i cannot skate for my life, so ice skating is out. i have zero coordination. love your confessions!!

  • Reply B @ Sequin Notebook December 24, 2015 at 10:54 am

Getting cards is my favorite, so I love this time of year since pretty much every day there is at least one! And I’m with you on A Christmas Story…I don’t think I’ve seen the whole thing but I’ve seen bits and pieces as an adult, and I just don’t get it!

  • Reply Duckie December 26, 2015 at 10:32 pm

Okay, how weird is it that ice skating is something that I have done. Never been in snow, but in Hawaii we have an indoor ice skating rink that we used to go to every once in a while when I was a kid. And I don’t think I’ve ever watched A Christmas Story all the way through so I don’t get it either.

  • Reply katie December 28, 2015 at 12:43 pm

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas, I get the same blues. December 26 may be the saddest day of the year 🙁 That’s why we keep our tree up, the music playing, and the hallmark channel movies rolling well into January 🙂 You’re not missing much with Ice Skating, it kills your ankles as an adult!

  • Reply Em December 28, 2015 at 1:43 pm

I confess I’ve never made a gingerbread house either! Getting Christmas cards is just the best! Really everything about Christmas is awesome. All of the family time (especially now for me) is the best :). I hope you had a great holiday!! <3
