Book Nerd

Stephanie and Jana have a new link up called Show us your Books! They will host it once a month so that you can link up all the books you read for the month. Basically my nerdy heart skipped a beat when I first heard of this. Also, because Stephanie and Jana are super awesome and I really wish we could all meet up for a beer coffee one day and chat in person!

So my post today is going to be a little different than the rules. I’m a badass like that. Since the only books I have read the last few months have been from the Stephanie Plum series, and I am pretty sure you don’t want an entire post on that….I am going to talk a little about those books and then mention a few on my list to read next.

For those of you who haven’t read or heard of this series, Stephanie Plum is a former lingerie buyer who gets laid off and blackmails her cousin Vinnie into giving her a job as a bounty hunter with his bonds office. The books follow Stephanie’s adventures and you are introduced to all kinds of characters. Every single one of these books has made me LOL at least once, usually more often that that.

I also particularly like the back and forth between Stephanie and two men in the books; Joe Morelli and Ranger. Mmmm, Morelli…..

They are pretty quick reads, usually averaging a little over 300 pages each. I am going to be honest with you, I had no intentions of reading past the very first one when I found out it was a series. My mom gave me One For the Money after she read it and I had run out of things to read and started it as filler. Obviously, they sucked me in!

When I am finished with the series, I am on book sixteen right now, I plan to move on to my “to-read” list which is ever growing. I read Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, so I would like to read Landline as well. I still haven’t read Gone Girl yet either. I know, I know…what am I doing with my life?!?!

I also want to read Eleanor and Park, The Husband’s Secret, Me Before You, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, and Where are You Bernadette.

What else should I add to my to read list?

I love love love love Stephanie Plum. I’ve read them all and I read the newest ones as they come out.

I’ve read all of your to reads except The Husband’s Secret. I liked them all!

definitely add ‘the girl you left behind’ to your list. i haven’t read landline yet but i strongly urge you to read Eleanor and Park first, so good! or maybe read landline and then E&P (saving the best till last lol).
i kind of burned out on stephanie plum, finished book 9 and needed a wee bit of a breather, i have no doubt i’ll pick them up again once the challenge is over

I haven’t read any books in the series. I feel like they’re books I’ll always mean to read and then never do. I don’t know why.

E&P is SO, SO GOOD!! I can’t recommend it enough. Is Everyone Hanging Out with Me was a great read because Mindy Kaling is awesome and the other ones won’t disappoint you, either. Gillian Flynn’s other books are just as good as Gone Girl. I’m looking forward to reading Amy Poehler’s book and I have Dear Daughter on my nightstand.

Wow, that is one looong series, and 300 pages each? You go girl! I love Rainbow Rowell (even though I’ve only read 2 books) and highly recommended Fangirl.

I’m still in the middle of The Husband’s Secret – I just need to finish that one!!

I do this, too. Once I find a series I really like, I have to finish it before I move on to something else. I have read none of these, but I’ve had Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me recommended to me by several people, so it’s going on my to-read list.

You know I have love for Stephanie Plum, I love a book that can make me laugh.

I’m in between books, I hate it too. I have a whole to read shelf with no interest in reading anything on it. 🙁

You’ve raved so much about this series over the time I’ve read your blog that I might just have to give it a try!!

Wow! What a great idea! I’ve never heard of the Stephanie Plum books, but they look like a hoot!

    Yay – a book link-up!
The Husband’s Secret and Me Before You are by authors that I very happily binge-read earlier this year. You’ll love them!

I really need to read these! I’m always looking for a good suggestion!

I have read up to #14 in the Stephanie Plum series. The first time I tried this series I wasn’t a fan. Fast forward a couple of years and I retried the series and enjoyed it so much more. I like to space them a part though but am due to read another! I’ve read all of the books in your to be read next pile and think you’ll be happy. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Where’d You Go Bernadette though. If you haven’t tried anything by Jodi Picoult or Kristin Hannah I highly recommend!

Bernadette is on my to-read list. Also, Landline is fantastic. I haven’t read The Husband’s Secret, but I like her other books!

I love Eleanor and Park! Listened to the beginning of Mindy’s Hanging out w/o me book and liked it but never finished it. I’ve heard of the S. Plum series but haven’t gotten into it. I’ve decided I need to start finishing a series when I can because I hate forgetting what happened and having to catch up!

More books to add to my list!

  • Reply Morgan November 17, 2015 at 8:33 pm

The Husband’s Secret is a page turner! It was the first book I read by Liane Moriarty. I also haven’t read Gone Girl yet; good to know I’m not the only one.
